    What has LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon decided?

    LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon has decided to exit the state. LifeWise Oregon will support existing LifeWise customers through the duration of their current plan year. Sales of new group policies have ended. We will remain on the individual market Exchange through the end of the year, with all individual policies ending on Dec. 31, 2016.

    Does this impact all LifeWise business?

    In Oregon, the decision impacts all lines and products, including individual, Medicare Supplement, fully insured group and self-insured accounts. LifeWise Health Plan of Washington and Vivacity are not affected.

    Will you next pull out of Washington?

    No. We believe market conditions in Oregon and Washington are different and feel confident about continued success in Washington.

    When will LifeWise Oregon exit the state?

    LifeWise Oregon will support existing customers through the duration of their current plan year, with most plans ending by Dec. 31, 2016. LifeWise Oregon will renew groups with anniversary dates of Oct. 1, 2016, or earlier if they choose. However, we encourage you to work with your groups to seek new coverage through another health plan at the employer's anniversary date.

    Will the provider network remain until that date?

    Yes. LifeWise Oregon has notified health care professionals of this change. They will continue to accept LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon coverage while your plan is active.

    My broker recently presented me with a LifeWise Oregon renewal proposal. Is that proposal now void?

    LifeWise Oregon will renew groups with anniversary dates of Oct. 1, 2016, or earlier, if they choose. However, we encourage you to work with your health plan consultant to seek new coverage through another carrier at your anniversary date.

    What if we add a new employee or one of our existing employees has a baby. Can they still be added to the plan?

    Yes, up until the policy reaches the end of its plan year.

    Why did LifeWise Oregon decide to leave the state?

    The decision came after careful and thorough consideration of current and projected market conditions in the state.

    Are you financially solvent?

    Yes. We have the financial resources to ensure we can support our customers and meet our commitments to them during this transition.

    Is this decision to exit Oregon permanent?

    It's way too early to answer a question like that. Our focus right now is on making this transition as smooth as possible for our customers.

    Is the Oregon insurance regulator aware of LifeWise's actions?

    Yes. We met with the Division of Financial Regulation earlier this month and will continue to be in regular communications with them. Our top priorities are to make sure this transition goes smoothly for customers, employers and producers.

    I am a Washington-based business with some Oregon employees. What will happen to their health coverage?

    Their coverage will not be impacted.

    What happens if providers decline to see patients with LifeWise coverage?

    This should not occur. LifeWise Oregon has notified health care professionals of this change. They will continue to accept LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon coverage while plans are active.

    What customer communications do you have planned?

    LifeWise Oregon has posted information at LifeWiseOR.com, while also notifying members through letters that will be mailed later in April. Group administrators also can access a conversation guide for use when communicating this development internally, as well as a copy-and-paste message for sharing with employees via email. Our focus is on making this transition as smooth as possible for our customers, producers and employers.
